33. Functional Upper Limb Retraining exs
- Hold the band or cable handle in your hand (furthest away for external rotation, closest for internal rotation)
- Have your elbow at a 90-degree bend, and the arm in line with your shoulder.
- Maintain this elbow bend and raise the elbow upwards to reach a horizontal level with the shoulder.
- Hold this position for 1-2 seconds, unless prescribed otherwise, and return to the start position.
- During the movement, maintain the control against the resistance, not allowing any rotation to occur.

This exercise should be felt in the shoulder blade and front of the shoulder of the moving arm, it also works the core muscles to stabilise during the movement.
